Urgent Care Centers in Berkeley Treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

How is CTS diagnosed?

Your Berkeley urgent care provider will ask you questions about the ways you use your hands, then review your symptoms, and conduct the actual examination. Some of the tests your healthcare provider will perform include tapping the inside of your wrist over the median nerve, bending your wrist down for 30 to 60 seconds, and electrical stimulation. All of these are meant to determine what is causing the symptoms.

How is it treated?

If a disease is causing the condition, then treating the disease should relieve the patient of the unpleasant symptoms. Other forms of treatment focus on alleviating pressure and irritation of the median nerve. Suggested treatments may include exercise, wearing a wrist splint, and restricting or changing the way the hand is used, steroid or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine, and corticosteroid medicines. In extreme cases, surgery may be necessary.
