Bed sores are a type of injury to the skin and the underlying tissue. A frequent condition seen in bed-ridden people, bedsores can range from tiny, reddish welts to severe skin complications such as cellulitis sepsis or necrotizing fasciitis. A Bed Sore Solution in the Works Bed-ridden people already have enough to contend with, and bed sores shouldn’t be one of them, that’s why researchers and engineers at UC Berkeley—along with their colleagues at UC San Francisco—sought to create a technology that uses electrical currents to detect early skin damage before they become bed sores.
