Catch Up on Immunization at Urgent Care Centers Before School Starts

A whole new school year will start soon, which means children from all over the state will be packing themselves in classrooms to continue learning. A gathering of such a huge population in a limited space risks the chance of an outbreak, especially if at least one individual has not been fully immunized. By law in Berkeley and the rest of California, children going to school this year should be vaccinated to prevent contracting common diseases and spreading them others. Health officials continue to remind parents to get their children vaccinated at an urgent care center before sending them to school. Just this year, California had a major measles outbreak which originated from a local amusement park. It reached critical levels when it spread from county to county and spread to the neighboring states. It brought the total number of those who caught the disease to 668, which was a large jump from 27 cases in 2014.

Manage Your Child’s Asthma Attacks with Help of Urgent Care Physician

Asthma cases are on a substantial rise in California, leading to a great number of children flocking to hospital emergency rooms to get treated; this despite the state’s ramped up efforts to control the disease. The latest data released by Kaiser Health News has shown that statewide, between 2005 and 2012, the rates of ER visits for asthma symptoms among California children ages 5 to 17 rose to approximately 18 percent. For children below 5, the number rose by 6 percent. The report does note that ER visits declined in some counties, including San Mateo, Marin, and Alameda, Berkeley City’s home county. Still, experts are quick to add plenty more needs to be done to improve and expand asthma prevention programs in the state.

Berkeley Urgent Care Center Urges to Save Air and Stay in Good Health

April to October is “Spare The Air” season in the Bay Area. As part of this initiative to improve air quality in the region, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) urged locals to find ways to go to work other than driving. Furthermore, it also encouraged reducing the use of aerosol products and anything that contains or runs on fossil fuel. “Spare The Air” is a public information system designed not only to inform the public about best air preservation practices but also to monitor air quality around the Bay Area. It divides the Bay Area into five air monitoring districts and gauges air quality in a 300-point scale. Berkeley lies in the Coastal and Central Bay monitoring district.

Urgent Care in Berkeley: A Viable Solution to Bed Sores is Coming

Bed sores are a type of injury to the skin and the underlying tissue. A frequent condition seen in bed-ridden people, bedsores can range from tiny, reddish welts to severe skin complications such as cellulitis sepsis or necrotizing fasciitis. A Bed Sore Solution in the Works Bed-ridden people already have enough to contend with, and bed sores shouldn’t be one of them, that’s why researchers and engineers at UC Berkeley—along with their colleagues at UC San Francisco—sought to create a technology that uses electrical currents to detect early skin damage before they become bed sores.
